art therapy

Art therapy is an established form of psychotherapy — one that uses the process of making art, alongside talking together, rather than words alone. You don't need any previous experience with art, or to think of yourself as "creative," to take part.

In our sessions, I'll support you to use art materials to explore thoughts and feelings that can be hard to put into words — especially experiences that feel too complex or painful to talk about directly. My aim is to help ease distress and support your wellbeing, building insight, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of agency along the way.

My approach

At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship itself — a space where you can begin to see and experience yourself differently. Together, we explore your inner world and feelings, gradually building an inner support system that helps you reflect, understand old patterns that may no longer be serving you, and move towards a more fulfilling way of living.Expressing yourself creatively through drawing, painting, clay, sand tray, body work and movement is a powerful tool on this journey to explore deep feelings that may go beyond words. In a session, I may make invitations to move into the art or you are welcome to dive in yourself at any point. There is no need to have previous experience or skill in any form as each creation will be cherished and respected as a reflection of your inner world.  I work integratively, drawing on a range of theories (including humanistic, psychodynamic, relational, neurobiological and embodied approaches)  and evidence-based practices tailored to each person I work with.
